The Greatest Love Story Ever Told

Before there were roses, handwritten cards, or candlelit dinners, there was a love that chose us first.

Valentine’s Day is filled with flowers, chocolates, and carefully chosen words that promise forever. It’s a day that celebrates love in its sweetest, most visible forms. But today, I want to center our hearts on a love even deeper, a love that didn’t come wrapped in ribbon, but wrapped in sacrifice.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” — John 3:16

This verse isn’t just something we memorized as children. It is the heartbeat of the Gospel. It is the greatest love story ever told.

On a day when love is often measured by what we receive, John 3:16 reminds us that real love gives. God didn’t love from a distance. He didn’t send a card or a sign. He gave His Son, Jesus Christ. Not because we earned it. Not because we were perfect. But because He is love.

The kind of love we celebrate today can be beautiful, but it is also human; sometimes fragile, sometimes fleeting. God’s love is different. It is steady. It is sacrificial. It is unconditional. It sees our brokenness and moves toward us, not away from us.

And not just a few, the world. That means the overlooked. The doubting. The wandering. The weary. That means you. That means me! This Valentine’s Day, whether you are celebrating with someone special or sitting quietly on your own, remember this: you are already fully loved. Before any bouquet was bought or any reservation was made, heaven declared its love over you through the cross.

The greatest Valentine was never written on paper. It was written in sacrifice. And it still speaks today.
