Reflecting His Heart

As followers of Jesus, our daily choices speak louder than anything we could ever say. What we do in life is a reflection of the Lord. Every moment, whether public or private, becomes an opportunity to either mirror His character or turn hearts away from Him. When we choose kindness and show consideration for others, we reveal the heart of Christ to a world that desperately needs to see His love.

Jesus taught us that kindness is not optional. It is the natural outflow of a life rooted in Him. In Ephesians 4:32 we read: “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” This verse reminds us that our compassion is anchored in the grace God has already shown us. Because we have received mercy, we are called to extend mercy. Because we have been loved without condition, we are called to love in the same way. Kindness is not merely a personality trait; it is a Gospel response.

Being kind, however, is not always convenient. It requires patience when our schedules are full, humility when our pride would rather speak harshly, and a willingness to put others before ourselves, even when no one notices. Yet every small act of gentleness carries the light of Christ. A simple kind word, a listening ear, or choosing to forgive can make a bigger impact than we realize. Sometimes these quiet expressions of grace pull people toward Jesus without us ever having to preach a sermon.

Kindness also speaks loudly in moments of tension. When we respond with calmness instead of anger, compassion instead of criticism, we demonstrate a different way of living, one shaped by the Spirit and not by the world. People may not remember everything we say, but they will remember how we made them feel, especially when that feeling reflects Christ’s love.

Consideration goes hand in hand with kindness. It means paying attention to the needs of others, noticing what they are walking through, and responding with compassion and intentionality. When we pause long enough to truly see the people around us, the friend who seems overwhelmed, the neighbor who feels lonely, the family member who struggles silently, we become instruments of peace in their lives.

When we live with this awareness, everything shifts. Our homes become gentler places where grace is practiced regularly. Our friendships grow stronger as we learn to serve one another with sincerity. Our communities are strengthened by simple acts of honor and compassion. And perhaps most importantly, our hearts grow more aligned with the heart of Jesus, who was continually moved with compassion during His time on earth.

If we want others to see Jesus in us, we begin with kindness. We begin with consideration. We begin by remembering that everything we do, every conversation, every decision, every interaction, is an opportunity to reflect the character of our Savior. Christ does not call us to be perfect. He calls us to be faithful. And faithfulness often looks like choosing love in the smallest moments.

May our lives shine with the love of Christ today and every day. May our words bring healing, our actions reveal grace, and our presence point others to the One who has shown us immeasurable kindness. As we grow in tenderness and compassion, may the world around us begin to see Jesus more clearly through the way we live.

This is what is important in life. In this world where things get really tough you are a shining example of how Jesus wants us to live.
